The Position
The Executive Director of Governance Services is responsible for developing and implementing effective corporate governance practices and overseeing the structure of the organization’s Boards and Committees.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this leader will oversee two direct reports.
The position will play a crucial role in shaping effective corporate governance practices, managing board and committee structures, and maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with extensive governance experience and a demonstrated ability to thrive in demanding environments. They should be detail-oriented, skilled in project management, and capable of overseeing multiple initiatives simultaneously. Familiarity with the Brown Act as it applies to board operations is highly preferred.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
Must have at least five years of experience providing management support at the director level, preferably working with publicly elected or nonprofit boards.
