Position Overview:
Seeking a dynamic and passionate Director of Membership. The ideal candidate will lead membership development, recruitment, retention, and work with a small, dedicated team to expand and enhance the association membership experience. This role requires a strong leader with excellent communication skills, proven project management abilities, and a deep understanding of membership engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Collaboration & Leadership
Work in tandem a team of up to ten professionals in areas such as Membership, Event Planning, Budgets, Marketing, and Advocacy.
Oversee membership communications, including digital marketing, media, and public relations.
Represent the Association Membership and serve as a visible leader and change agent, driving action and innovation within the team.
Membership Development & Sales
Work with Senior Leadership on membership sales initiatives to grow and maintain member base.
Develop and manage a sales strategy, generate leads, and coordinate resources for membership growth.
Oversee the use of CRM and AMS tools to manage membership operations and reporting. (experience in Sales Force is a plus)
Meet membership metrics and report results in a bi-weekly Zoom call.
Operations Management
Manage projects in a dynamic, virtual team environment.
Oversee membership reporting, tracking, and forecasting.
Support overseas events and domestic conferences by working and attending up to three international business trips and two domestic events annually.
Understand P&L statements.
Be willing to support the Senior Leadership team when necessary.
Serve as back-up operations staff to cover any deficiencies.
Planning, Relationship Management, & Media Engagement
Develop and implement a comprehensive membership plan to enhance the associations value proposition for members.
Communicate Membership Vision and Strategy to internal staff, members, and external stakeholders.
Oversee all membership invoicing, tracking, voting, and collections.
Project Oversight & Reporting
Assist in planning, implementing, and supporting projects as directed by the Senior Leadership.
Provide regular updates to the Membership Committee and Senior Vice President, including weekly reports on activities and progress.
Work Environment:
This role is based in the Washington, D.C. office, with remote work flexibility at the discretion of the President and Senior Vice President.
Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EDT.
Frequent calls, meetings, and events will require availability beyond regular business hours as needed.

Requirements:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Experience in membership development, CRM/AMS management, and sales strategies. (Fonteva experience a plus but not required)
Ability to travel internationally and domestically for business events.
