Description
The purpose of this position is to administratively support and facilitate the execution of all operations of the Association’s Board of Directors and assigned governance committees to ensure an effective and efficient flow of the Association’s governance. The incumbent is responsible for making recommendations for enhancements to all operations of the Board of Directors and assigned committees and may also manage special projects assigned by the Senior Director, Association Governance Operations or the Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain administrative procedures and processes to facilitate the execution of all operations of the Board of Directors and the Committee on Committees.
Act as the primary logistics and operations manager for planning and conducting Board of Directors and assigned governance committee meetings.
Support the work of the ASHA President and serve as President’s handler at the annual ASHA Convention.
Serve as the staff liaison to assigned committees.
Manage special projects assigned by the Senior Director, Association Governance Operations or Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications
Knowledge Typically Acquired Through
4-6 years of high- level administrative experience in a professional association
Bachelor’s degree
Scope and Depth of Technical Skills/Knowledge
Proficiency with common computer platforms and software programs for volunteer management, e.g., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, netForum, OpenWater, and Higher Logic
Demonstrated ability to manage and organize information in an online community site
Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of association governance policy and procedures.
Scope and Depth of Non-Technical Skills/Knowledge
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex projects and tasks.
Demonstrated knowledge of association governance policy and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work teams to accomplish projects and to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to independently compose routine correspondence and effectively communicate technical/scientific information for a professional audience.
Well-developed interpersonal and team-facilitation skills, including experience directing and facilitating meetings (both face-to-face and virtual).
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure; handle multiple projects and activities simultaneously; set and meet multiple deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively address job-related tasks.
Demonstrated ability to deal discreetly with confidential information.
