SUMMARY Under the direction of the Membership Manager, the Student Member Coordinator manages the SIAM Student Chapter Program, works to engage current student members, and provides support for the SIAM Membership Department.
Correspond by email or phone with Student Chapter officers and faculty advisors as needed
Create and implement Student Chapter reports and funding requests, compile and process all reports
Work with SIAM staff to process and disperse funds for Student Chapters and reimbursements for student meetings
Work with students and SIAM staff to institute new Student Chapters
Work with Student Chapters and advisors to coordinate the recognition of student members
Maintain current lists of Student Chapters, officers, and members, along with Student Chapter activities, provide data to SIAM Board and Council and staff as requested
Assist with preparation of advertisements, articles, and newsletters related to the Student Chapter Program
Student Member engagement and support
Work with Education Committee to coordinate Student Days activities and volunteers at Annual Meeting (or other major SIAM conference when Annual Meeting does not take place) and other student events at other conferences as needed
Coordinate with Member Recruitment Coordinator to incorporate student programs in the Annual Meetings of regional SIAM Sections. Work with Sections to support their student programs and to facilitate liaison with regional Student Chapters.
Work with the marketing team, Membership Manager, and others as needed to communicate member benefits and engage student members with the aim of encouraging them to continue their membership beyond graduation
Membership Department support
Manage the Visiting Lecturers’ Program to maintain and add to the existing database of speakers, as well as promote and advertise the program to Student Chapters
Work with the Membership Manager to maintain SIAM Student Chapter webpages
Promote membership to conference registrants, compile Membership Department materials for SIAM conferences
Perform administrative or other duties as assigned by the Membership Manager
Serve as assistant staff liaison to the SIAM Membership Committee and subcommittees. Attend meetings, record meeting minutes, provide supporting materials and data as requested.
Attend other committee meetings as needed (Education Committee, Industry Committee) to represent Student Chapter activities
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent skills with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams/Sharepoint.
Ability to produce professional documents and correspondence with minimal errors
Ability to communicate well and in a timely manner, and to provide excellent customer service
Some knowledge of database queries and data entry
Excellent time management, ability to effectively handle numerous tasks and assignments with multiple and sometimes competing deadlines
General competence with online communication platforms, including Zoom, Slack, etc.
Discipline to work successfully without close supervision

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is an international community of over 14,000 individual members. Almost 500 academic, manufacturing, research and development, service and consulting organizations, government, and military organizations worldwide are institutional members.
