The Membership Manager reinforces the value of AATCC membership in ways that significantly strengthen AATCC membership recruitment and retention, while ensuring the AATCC membership experience is of the highest quality. The Membership Manager supervises all Membership Associates and develops and implements analytics-driven membership marketing strategies to raise visibility and revenue for AATCC departments, initiatives, products, and services. This role reports to the Membership & Communications Director.
Responsibilities
The Membership Manger is responsible for:
Strengthening and increasing AATCC membership, including recruiting new members;
Developing and implementing AATCC membership marketing, focusing on message and brand; Developing and overseeing campaigns to solicit new (corporate, individual, and student) members and renewals;
Outreach and ongoing communication with existing and prospective members, including travel to industry events and member facilities; Includes preparing and delivering presentations to member prospects;
Traveling to trade shows, conferences, and meetings with Local Sections, Corporate members, and other members as required to promote new membership and membership satisfaction and renewal; Includes preparing for and following up on leads for tradeshows and other events to increase new memberships;
Participating and working with the Membership Committee and their subcommittees to increase membership;
Supervising the everyday activities of the membership associates, including training;
Negotiating and signing Exchange membership agreements. Ensuring all Exchange obligations are fulfilled.
Reviewing membership-related content for web, emailed newsletters, press releases, magazine, brochures, and other media; Creating and editing/revising content as needed.
Fulfilling other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or higher. Degrees in marketing, business, or similar are useful. Textile science, design, merchandising, or management degrees are also valued.
Minimum Professional Requirement: The Membership Manager must demonstrate a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and a commitment to ongoing professional development, including managing or supervisory experience and experience in sales, membership, or marketing-related roles.
Other Requirements:
Prior association experience is preferred. Prior textile-related experience is preferred. Typically, 5-10 years of related subject matter experience, and 2+ years supervisory or management experience expected.
This role requires excellent written, telephone, and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated project management skills.
The outreach function requires good presentation skills, including putting together and presenting appropriate presentations for the target audience. Experience in making oral presentations as well as sales experience is preferred.
This position requires offsite travel; the person is responsible for representing AATCC in public and maintaining a professional image for the Association through the employee’s actions, speech, and dress; the person is expected to have a passport (or immediately apply for a passport when hired) and may be required to engage in overseas travel.
Spoken and written facility with additional languages, especially Spanish or Chinese, are valued.
Excellent computer skills and knowledge with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Association Management Software, and other computer programs as needed; Salesforce experience a plus.
