JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a talented Human Resources Specialist to join our growing Human Resources & Organizational Development department. The ideal candidate will bring value to our team by providing support in multiple HR areas, while specializing in leave administration (e.g., FMLA, short-term disability, bereavement, parental, etc.).
Reporting to the Associate Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development, the Human Resources Specialist will have the opportunity to provide support in various HR areas, including, but not limited to, facilitating leave administration, tracking employee handbook updates on an annual basis, facilitating legal compliance requirements, and providing project coordination support during internal and external audits. This role will also assist with the optimization of departmental processes, HRIS tools/applications, and the creation and maintenance of HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the development and implementation of HR related strategies, projects and processes to support business objectives. Assists with project coordination for HR projects/initiatives. Maintains data quality, accuracy and monitors work-related tasks for HR projects.
Facilitates the administration of FMLA, short-term disability, COBRA, Workers’ Compensation, parental, bereavement and other leaves. Under the general guidance of the Associate Director, Human Resources, shares necessary leave-related benefits information to employees and managers. Communicates with employees and managers to ensure that both are well-informed of the leave process and related responsibilities. Maintains all employee records related to such leaves/benefits.
Assists with creating and maintaining the accuracy of departmental SOP’s and HR resources and communications on the intranet. Assists with tracking and maintaining the employee handbook updates on an annual basis. Facilitates legal compliance requirements and provides project coordination support during internal and external audits.
Assists with the documentation and optimization of departmental processes and overall optimization of ADP/HRIS systems. Assists with reviewing weekly carrier connection reports and troubleshoots file discrepancies with ADP and carriers. Provides technical support to escalated employee inquiries related to HR tools/applications and benefit carriers.
Provides support to payroll, recruitment, and benefits administration. Provides technical support between HR team, ADP Comprehensive services and external vendors to resolve escalated tickets related to payroll, time and attendance and benefits administration.
Runs various reports in HRIS systems/HR applications to support team projects, audits, open enrollment, and compliance filing requirements.
Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS in human resources, business, or related field with at least 5 years of experience in Human Resources. PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.
At least 2 years of experience administrating employee leaves of absence including but not limited to FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and bereavement leave.
Excellent technical, communication, writing and editing skills required.
Project coordination experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, goal oriented. Ability to work in hybrid environment.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidential information while providing support in a professional manner.
Advanced Skills: MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
MS Excel: ability to sort, filter data and format for reporting purposes. Experience with using VLOOKUP function and creating pivot tables to customize reports.
MS Word: Experience with utilizing track changes features for project coordination work.
Experience with ADP, HRIS, or related software applications is preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The anticipated starting salary for this position is $68,000 - $78,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, training, certifications/licenses, qualifications and geographical location.
