The American Lighting Association (ALA) is a trade association representing the residential lighting industry with the goal of increasing consumer awareness of lighting and growing lighting and related product sales for our showrooms, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives and associate members, through marketing, education and government advocacy.
Key Focus Areas
-Ensure that ALA is maximizing member value.
-Evaluate membership structure to ensure it is meeting the needs of all members.
-Increase participation from members.
-Create initiatives to improve membership retention.
-Explore potential expansion of membership into new categories.
-Continue to improve and expand membership education opportunities.
-Manage the annual budget and existing revenue streams.
-Explore new diversified funding sources to strengthen organization.
-Look at innovative revenue streams
-Explore options to attract a broader audience and/or increase value.
-Lead a high-performing team.
-Work with the team to make strategic decisions and carry plans forward.
-Prioritize key initiatives.
-Evaluate the organizational structure: board, committees, and staff.
Other Focus Areas include:
Government engagement where you must bring together different membership segments to create a strong collective industry voice in the development of sound regulations and monitor issues
Affiliate relationships. Cultivate and manage affiliate relationships with key industry stakeholders to benefit the affiliates and the membership.
Advertising & Public Relations Programs. Lead and expand efforts to promote sales of lighting, controls and ceiling fans to U.S. and Canadian consumers through independent lighting showrooms.
10+ years experience leading an organization to ensure long term growth and sustainability. Have organizational leadership skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to think creatively about ways to expand revenue, engage members, and make pragmatic choices that achieve impact while limiting organizational expenses
Able to manage all aspects of operations, including communications, finance, education, events, government affairs, human resources, and membership. Enjoy leading and building teams, be able to develop great people.
Experience working in a regulated industry understanding federal, state, and local government relations/government affairs.
Experience working in a nonprofit trade association (a CAE designation is highly valued) or industry experience in a relatable industry is preferred.

Employees currently work a flexible hybrid schedule from home and the World Trade Center, Dallas, Texas.
This position would be flexible with at least 50% at the office in Dallas.
