Our company provides full-service management to trade and professional associations, as well as specialized services including non-profit financial management and event coordination. We are seeking a full-time Executive Director to support two of our client associations. The Executive Director will manage the daily operations and advocate on behalf of industry priorities while upholding the highest ethical standards and acting with a focus on the client’s mission.
PrimaryResponsibilities:
Effectively collaborating with the Board of Directors, Board President, and Executive Officers to achieve Association goals.
Preparing materials, including agendas, for Board meetings and assisting the Board President with running the meetings.
Implementing strategic plan and providing insight to the Board with plans for execution.
Plans, formulates, and recommends for the approval of the Board, policies and programs which will further the objectives of the association.
Oversees the Associate Director and/or Meeting Planner with the planning of meetings for the association(s), such as the development and selection of hotel contracts, travel, exhibit space, and other duties as needed.
In cooperation with the accountant, treasurer, and/or finance committee, recommends monitors and operates within an annual budget. Works with the accountant to ensure timely and effective financial reports.
Provides business management of the associations’ publications, including journals, newsletters, brochures and directories.
Performs a fiduciary function for the association, maintaining official minutes of the Board of Directors and other official meetings of the association, provides security and appropriate confidentiality for all files, legal and historic documents, membership and other databases.
Plans and executes all communications to the general membership, including such items as newsletters, general mailings, ballots, and surveys.
Provides the necessary liaison and staff support to Committee Chairs and Committees to enable them to effectively perform their function.
Serves as the “team leader”, coordinating and working with other support to the association(s), such as the accountant, web services contractor, graphic designer, newsletter, and others.
Partners with volunteer leaders to solicit Sponsors/Partners for the association and maintains positive relationship with Sponsors/Partners including insuring staff implements all promised benefits and features.
Requirements:
Education & Experience – A bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant work experience. Experience with association management/non-profit organizations is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities –
Ability to demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn about the industry or profession and the issues of concern to members.
Ability to understand and consistently meet or exceed deadlines.
Identifies the need for additional staffing and recommends resources required to provide the services outlined in the client agreement or identified and approved by the Board of Directors.
Understands the resources available to implement the association’s goals and program of work and the services for which the association has contracted.
Seeks to continually upgrade skills and knowledge for the effective management of the association.
Highly comfortable and fluent in technology such as Microsoft Suite, databases, social media, websites, etc.
Travel –Meetings/conferences will require out of state travel approximately 5-7 times a year.
