ASE is seeking a full-time Director of Membership.
Position Summary: The Director of Membership is responsible for developing strategy, analyzing and overseeing implementation of all member programming and services, and the member renewal, recruitment, and retention process. The Director of Membership works in close collaboration with staff and provides leadership to ensure that all programming is aligned toward an excellent member experience and to ensure organizational strength, health, and grow membership at all levels. This position plans and directs policies and objectives for addressing member inquiries, establishes service quality goals for the department, and implements strategies to meet these goals and the society’s strategic goals. The director will help the membership team as well as other department teams cultivate a service-oriented culture that supports positive member engagement. This position has potential for a hybrid setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as primary staff liaison to ASE's Membership Steering Committee, Awards Committee, and any other Task Forces as assigned.
Supervise all membership department staff and conduct performance reviews.
Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to improve membership retention and stimulate membership growth, including direct mail campaigns; use of social media; website content and development; working with members to assist in recruitment efforts; creating promotional materials; and analyzing results.
Manage the Association's affinity programs. Identify new groups of member prospects and developing new approaches to reach them; and research and analyze membership needs through the development and implementation of programs for new and expanded services.
Oversee membership renewal process as implemented by Membership Department Staff.
Analyze membership dues categories in comparison to the marketplace and recommend changes as needed. Prepare dues analysis for Membership and Finance Committee review.
Respond for ensuring inquiries from current and prospective members are met in a timely manner and track results.
Oversee development of membership marketing and promotional materials, including applications, welcome kits, certificates, membership cards, and other collateral, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications department.
Work with Finance department to ensure accurate financial tracking of membership dues. Provide yearly reports on deferred revenues, complimentary memberships, and breakdown by member categories.
Assure that both domestic and international privacy laws are adhered to and reports and data are accurate and secured, in conjunction with the IT team.
Develop and actively manage department budgets.
Monitor, track, and provide monthly membership retention and recruitment reports for presentation to the ASE leadership
Represent the association at key professional events through exhibits and direct membership promotional activities.
Assure high quality standards for ASE membership department activities and customer service including member surveys.
Fields requests related to member surveys and provides guidance on approvals.
Keep current of all the latest membership marketing techniques and employ them as deemed appropriate, keeping track of trends in membership growth and retention
Prepare reports for ASE Boards, Committees and Councils as necessary
Other duties as assigned by CEO, Deputy Director or Senior Director of Volunteer Activities.
Other Functions: 20% of the time
Administrative:
Support the organizational structure of ASE by attending staff meetings, working on task forces, seeking and attending professional development opportunities, working in a team atmosphere and cooperating with other staff members, and completing minutes, meeting summaries, paperwork and timesheets in a timely manner.
Attend board, foundation, strategic planning, assigned committee, committee chair and other meetings as required.
Travel:
Travel to ASE meetings and other exhibit venues will be required for this position.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required,
Experience: Five to seven years of relevant experience including previous people management experience. Experience with a professional membership association preferred.

Physical Requirements: Requires frequently: sitting, repetitive hand and wrist movement (reaching and ability to lift at least 15-25 pounds.)
