Major Responsibilities: The Chicago Bar Association (CBA) seeks an innovative, customer-focused individual to be its Membership Director. The Membership Director is responsible for designing and implementing membership growth and retention strategies. The Membership Director is also responsible for the day-to-day management of CBA member engagement and is an integral part in nurturing and managing relationships with member benefit providers and sponsors.
Specific Assignments:
Lead the association’s overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage membership
Create a roadmap for membership growth and retention
Develop strategies and programs to strengthen member engagement
Maintain membership database and utilize database to develop membership recruitment and retention reports
Responsible for member experience throughout join and renewal process
Collaborate with colleagues, including CBA Marketing Director, to develop membership retention and recruitment campaigns
Stay up to date with legal industry trends and best practices
Attend events and activities that serve as an opportunity to recruit members and/or strengthen members engagement with the Association
Serve as staff liaison to the Membership Committee and assist the committee chair in planning meetings, developing the agenda, and executing all committee activities
Work creatively and collaboratively with Executive Director and CBA senior staff for overall planning and direction of the Association
Work with colleagues to recruit members to lead CBA committees
Cultivate new relationships, manage current relationships, oversee contracts and payment, and fulfill all contractual obligations of benefit programs in coordination with CBA Marketing Director

The Chicago Bar Association is a hybrid working environment. Full-time employees typically work in the Chicago office location 3 days per week.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of experience in membership or constituent management position preferred
SKILLS:
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with members and customers outside the organization
- An understanding of the legal profession is preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
- Experience with iMIS database preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of tools
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to high level of customer service
- Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively
