JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Manager of Business Development is responsible for managing and growing ACC sponsorship sales, which includes: the ACC job board, digital advertising sales, and event sponsorships. The position also contributes to the Business Development team by contributing to the achievement of revenue goals and streamlining processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency. In collaboration with the Sr. Director of Business Development the candidate will develop and implement an annual business development plan that aligns with ACC’s strategic goals, including identifying new market opportunities, competitive landscapes, and relevant partners. For this position ACC is seeking candidates with strong marketing and sales experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set budget targets and achieve annual revenue goals for event and practice area sponsorships, digital advertising, and other non-dues revenue streams.Events include Annual Meeting, Executive Leadership Institute, Legal Ops Conference, and others.
Develop and implement a year-round marketing plan to promote sponsorship opportunities to current and prospective clients.
Create and design sales support materials (specifications, pricing, insertion orders, and promotional collateral). Work with the marketing department to ensure alignment with ACC branding.
Continually improve products and services to increase non-dues revenues, improve sponsor/advertiser retention rates, and attract new sponsors/advertisers.
Negotiate and manage agreements with customers, ensuring favorable terms and successful partnerships. Produce accurate sales contracts and invoices to facilitate the timely collection of receivables.
Improve procedures for sponsorship sales, client database, production processes, and sponsor communications. Ensure that data for sponsors is accurate and up to date.
Serve as the sales representative for other Business Development products, such as legal resources, online education, and global events.
Research business development trends and study competitor efforts to ensure that the Business Development team is always ready to innovate and is well positioned to meet the financial goals of the association.
Analyze ACC’s sales and revenue data and create reports to track goal achievement, identify gaps, and communicate results.
Manage the ACC job board and work with the job board vendor to improve processes and revenue.
Provide customer support at ACC in-person events and legal industry events to build sponsor relationships.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or other related concentration is required.
WORK EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a business development/sponsorship sales/marketing role, with an established track record of exceeding sales revenue targets, growing a book of sponsors, underwriters, and financial partners.
Proficiency in event planning, email marketing, and HTML.
Association experience is a plus.
Salesforce/CRM experience is a plus.
Legal Industry experience is a plus.
Licensing experience is a plus.
COMPETENCIES (KSAs)
Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Proven project management skills and ability to execute and deliver on multiple projects and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Effective reporting and analysis capabilities.
Enthusiastic, creative self-starter who can thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Strong business acumen with the ability to think both strategically and tactically.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to get along with diverse constituencies and personalities, including members, chapter officers, staff, sponsors, and contacts at external organizations.
Must be an outgoing individual that enjoys building relationships and is able to deliver results in a sales role.
WHAT ACC PROVIDES YOU
The flexibility of a hybrid schedule (only two days in the office on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) and remaining days you can work from home. Staff working in the Washington, DC office must reside in the DMV area.
