*This position is located in Rosemont, IL, just outside of Chicago by O'Hare Airport. It requires the individual to be in-person 1x per week (Wednesdays – increasing to 2x per week when gas prices decrease) and does not provide a relocation package.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Live Education Manager supports the strategy, planning, execution and evaluation of accredited educational activities, including the AANA Annual Meeting, Specialty Day programming, AANA Lab Courses and other in-person or hybrid educational initiatives.
Partnering closely with leadership, faculty and physician volunteers, the Live Education Manager is responsible for developing and delivering innovative, high-impact educational experiences that address evolving clinical practice needs, emerging trends and identified knowledge gaps within minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery. This role plays a key part in ensuring educational programming remains relevant, forward-thinking and aligned with the changing needs of learners and the marketplace, moving beyond traditional “repeat” programming models to create dynamic, engaging and outcomes-driven education.

Educational Programs Planning & Execution
The Education Manager leads the operational planning and execution of the AANA Annual Meeting, Specialty Day, AANA Lab Courses and other assigned in-person or hybrid educational programs, ensuring the delivery of innovative, high-quality and learner-focused experiences that reflect evolving trends, emerging techniques and identified educational needs within orthopaedics and sports medicine.
Manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of accredited educational activities, including the AANA Annual Meeting (e.g., concurrent sessions, Instructional Course Lectures (ICLs), ultrasound programming and other educational formats), with a focus on innovation, learner engagement and outcomes-driven education.
Collaborate with AANA physician leaders, faculty and volunteer committees to develop relevant, forward-thinking educational content that addresses current practice gaps, emerging technologies, changing healthcare dynamics and member learning needs.
Serve as a staff liaison to the Surgical Skills Committee, partnering closely with the Committee Chair, physician leaders and staff team to support the strategic development, educational planning and agenda creation of AANA Lab Courses.
Coordinate with AANA Lab Course Chairs and faculty to develop comprehensive, clinically relevant and innovative course agendas, ensuring alignment with educational objectives, learner needs and emerging surgical techniques and technologies.
Partner with internal education and meetings staff to support the successful implementation and onsite execution of AANA Lab Courses, while coordinating closely with the Senior Manager of Education, responsible for cadaveric lab operations and logistics.
Partner with internal stakeholders and physician leadership to identify opportunities to modernize programming formats, introduce new educational concepts and enhance the overall learner experience beyond traditional meeting models.
Support accreditation and compliance processes, including educational activity tracking, documentation management and PARS reporting in accordance with ACCME requirements and organizational standards.
Budgeting & Operations
Assume ownership of the financial performance and operational success of assigned i educational programs, recognizing the direct impact that innovative, relevant and high-value program content has on attendee engagement, registration growth and overall revenue performance.
Develop, implement and continuously refine efficient operational processes for educational program management, including abstract submission and review workflows, faculty and speaker confirmations, content collection, communication tracking and related planning activities to ensure a seamless and well-organized program development experience for faculty, volunteers and internal stakeholders.
In partnership with the Data and Research Analyst, analyze program performance metrics, attendee feedback and market trends to support data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement and future program development strategies.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, vendors and stakeholders to ensure seamless operational execution, efficient resource management and alignment with organizational priorities.
Contribute to the advancement of AANA’s strategic initiatives and organizational goals by serving as an engaged, collaborative and solutions-oriented member of the team.
Demonstrate adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset by proactively identifying operational efficiencies, emerging educational opportunities and innovative approaches to enhance program impact and member value.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as staff liaison support to the Emerging Leaders Committee, Surgical Skills Committee and other task forces as needed.
Support preparation of reports and updates for committees, program chairs and leadership.
Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Meetings, IT and Education) to execute program logistics, communications and promotional efforts.
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director of Education and Research.
Travel as needed to support on-site program execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience in program coordination or education management, preferably in healthcare, medical education or association management.
Familiarity with continuing medical education (CME) and accreditation processes preferred.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills with attention to detail.
Ability to interface with volunteer leaders to shepherd projects and problem-solve with diplomacy and focus on AANA mission and individual project goals.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
Advanced ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer skills required, including Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 365 suite applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
iMIS and Oasis platform experience a plus.
Willingness to travel for meetings and events
Work Environment and Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment with light noise. Work may be frequently interrupted. The employee will spend much of the workday sitting, computing and talking/hearing. May require lifting (boxes) in the 10–25 lb. range, requiring the ability to bend at the waist and knee.
Schedule and Travel Requirements
The position requires availability for extended and non-traditional hours as needed to perform job duties. Same-day and overnight travel is required to support and participate in AANA events.
