The Section Relations Manager will play a crucial role in supporting our local Sections, fostering engagement, and strengthening relationships to drive the mission of SWE forward.

The position of Manager, Section Relations reports to the Director, Membership & Data Management:
Section Support and Management: 50%
Provide guidance and support to local SWE Sections (including university and professional sections), ensuring they have and understand resources available to be in good standing with SWE and adhere to SWE’s policies, procedures, and best practices.
Foster positive relationships with Section leaders, offering guidance, resources, and assistance to enhance their effectiveness and success.
Regularly communicate with Sections to understand their needs, challenges, and achievements, and provide appropriate guidance and solutions.
Monitor Section compliance with reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of necessary documentation.
Oversee the section on-boarding process (starting after the Section has completed the application and governance due diligence process) and annual section deactivation process.
Oversee section leader updates in the AMS portal; oversee additional data and technical updates in the AMS portal on a regular cadence to ensure SWE’s records are up to date.
Act as a key point of contact to SWE Sections for various SWE HQ supported applications.
Regularly track SWE Sections that are not engaged with SWE or need tangible inroads to engage with the organization.
Work in close collaboration with the SWE Leadership Coaching Committee & Member Engagement Committee to support section growth and engagement.
Volunteer Engagement and Development: 30%
Work in close collaboration with other departments across SWE (programs, learning, and DEI&B) to develop and offer resources to recruit, engage, and retain Section volunteers, ensuring a vibrant and active volunteer base.
Organize and facilitate training programs, webinars, and workshops to enhance the leadership skills and capabilities of Section volunteer leaders.
Support the volunteer efforts at Annual Conference & WE Local US conferences.
Collaborate with Section leaders to create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages DEI&B within their respective Sections.
Promote cross-collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Sections leaders to facilitate the exchange of best practices and innovative ideas.
Section Reporting and Assessment: 20%
Collect and analyze Section data, metrics, and feedback to evaluate Section performance and identify areas for improvement.
Prepare regular reports on Section activities, accomplishments, and challenges for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with Section leaders, industry partners, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration, sponsorship, and support for SWE's mission.
As needed, represent SWE at external events, conferences, and meetings to promote the organization and build new partnerships.
Collaborate with other SWE teams and departments to ensure Section activities align with the overall organizational goals and strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position may have up to one direct report within 12 months of hire.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence others effectively.
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage/lead multiple projects simultaneously.
Prior experience supporting member groups and/or volunteer leaders.
Ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and comprehensive manner to a variety of audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a team member, and to take initiative when appropriate.
Proficiency in using technology platforms and software for remote collaboration, data analysis, and reporting.
Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles and the ability to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Interest in the engineering profession and the challenges and opportunities faced by women in the field.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Communications, or Nonprofit Management).
Required: Previous experience in association management (3 years), volunteer management, or nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.
TRAVEL & SCHEDULE:
This position works 40 hours a week; travel to Chicago, IL is needed on a quarterly basis for remote employees; additional domestic travel 3-6 times a year can also be expected).

BENEFITS AND SALARY:
SWE strives to offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our core values and commitment to our employees. Salary is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location. The salary range for this position is $65-85k annually.
